About Me

Ames Ossi is a transgender Writer and Director. Growing up in a small, farm town in New Jersey, Ames has always felt different from his peers. It wasn’t until junior year of high school that he was really able to discover his true identity. He realized very quickly how important it is to have representation in the media. While he is passionate about LGBTQ+ stories, he specializes in the horror genre. In his work, he enjoys mixing the two genres by including characters with unique backgrounds and identities.

In 2024, Ames wrote and directed a horror/comedy film titled Meat the One, which explores a dating app for cannibals. The film follows three queer cannibals, who are struggling to navigate the fine line between romance and hunger. Ames wants to tell stories that contain LGBTQ+ characters, but not necessarily centered around the character’s queerness alone. Ames’s main goal is to normalize people like himself and to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ people, from his film’s cast/crew to his film’s audience.

Meat the One has been awarded a total of eight times, including: Best Student Film in the Ottawa Film Award (2024), Best Student Film in the Indiana Short Film Festival (2024), Best Horror Short in the Magic Silver Screen (2024), Best Director, Best International Horror, and Best Sound Design in the 8 & HalFilm Awards (2024), Best Debut Performances in 4theatre (2024), and Best Horror Short in Cult Movies International Film Festival (2024). The film has also made it into Official Selections for the Fright Night Film Fest (2024).

An 80's style Sci-Fi film titled Late Night Television (5 mins), which won Best Sci-Fi Short in the Magic Silver Screen (2024) and Best Sci-Fi Short for the Cult Movies International Film Festival (2024).

Purgatory (4 mins), which was selected as a candidate for Best Narrative Short in the New York Lift Off Film Festival (2024). â€‹â€‹â€‹
